6. - The Final Mould

(Shell)

The hollow wax model is then dipped in a ceramic slurry and then covered with a very fine silica sand inside and out, this step is repeated over many days with layer after layer of increasingly course sand being added to increase the strength and durability, we end up with a final mould that is strong enough to withstand the heat of the molten bronze.
